Occasional Workshops

In addition to her regular classes, Philippa is often invited to teaches Baroque and historical dance workshops for dancers, musicians, actors and other interested groups.  If you are interested in organising a workshop, either private or open, please see our page on inviting Philippa to teach.

Benslow Baroque Opera Course

5th to 10th April 2010

Benslow Music Trust, Hitchin, Hertfordshire

Philippa will be choreographer and dance tutor for the Benslow Baroque Opera production of Dido and Aeneas.

A residential course for singers, instrumentalists, and dancers, leading to two public performances on 10th April.

Dance at Tredegar House:
The Restoration

Thursday 22nd April 2010, 7pm

Tredegar House, Newport, South Wales

Be transported back to 1672 and join us learn the steps in preparation for a dance to celebrate the grand opening of Tredegar House.  We will then sample food and drink of the period – good and bad!

Complete beginners welcome, no previous dance experience required.

An educational event for children aged 7–12
from the English National Ballet and Benjamin Franklin House.

Tuesday 16th February 2010

English National Ballet will offer artistic educational activities themed on the 18th Century including an exciting opportunity to witness the fashions of the time, including wigs and makeup, partake in period dancing, and take a look at Franklin's musical invention, the glass armonica.

An introduction to French Baroque dance, suitable for musicians, actors, dancers.  The session will concentrate on dance rhythms found in the Baroque suite, such as the sarabande, menuet, bourée, gigue and French courante.  Musicians may wish to accompany part of the class as well as participate.
