Course Content

This weekend workshop will look at the use of Baroque dance steps in English country dances from the late 17th and early 18th centuries.  Basic steps, patterns and musical rhythms will be taught along with brief lectures on the history, costume and context of the dances.  Participants will look at dances in a variety of rhythms such as minuet, bourée, gavotte and gigue.

The course is suitable for English country dancers, beginning Baroque dancers, actors, musicians, and interested lay-people.  Baroque dance students continuing on from a beginning level may also come to improve their skills.
